- 6 to 9 medium onions
- Spray oil as needed or 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed – optional
- 1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed – optional
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Peel the onions, cut in half and slice thinly.
Coat a frying pan with cooking spray or oil.
Over a medium heat, cook the onions for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, or until soft and golden.
Stir in thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper.
The onions can then be used to make a variety of dishes – stew, curry, stir fry, onion soup, onion tart or just serve on toast
